He offered to help with the weeding. Two terms later the class is selling herbs at the school fete.

When the school’s veggie patch went to seed, a grandparent who had spent forty years in commercial nurseries offered to lend a hand on Friday mornings.
He brought seedlings, a lot of patience and a habit of explaining exactly why each plant needs what it needs.
The class now runs the garden themselves, keeps a planting diary and sold out of basil at the last fete.
