A community pantry needs Thursday drivers
The food is donated and the shelves are ready. What’s missing is someone with a car and two free hours.
Every Thursday afternoon, a community pantry in Melbourne’s west collects surplus produce from three local grocers. For the past two years, the same small group of volunteers has done the run.
Two of them have recently moved away. The pantry still has the food, and the families who rely on it. What it needs now is drivers.
It’s a practical ask: a licence, a car with a boot, and a couple of hours between 2pm and 5pm. Training is a short ride-along with one of the regulars.
“We’re not short on generosity. We’re short on wheels.”
If you can help, contact the pantry directly. HMN KND is sharing this need. We’re not coordinating the roster or collecting anything on the pantry’s behalf.
Register your interest with the pantry. They’ll take it from there.
